Warthhog（长疣的疣猪）是Ubuntu的第一个发行版，之所以这么叫是希望它可以“据实地”（'warts and
all'不知道对不对？）发布。为什么要从版本4开始呢？4代表它发布的年份—— 2004年，更准确地说，是2004年10月。桌面在色彩上相当暗，
桔黄褐色代表南非诸部落。让人起敬的是，Ubuntu从一开始就倡导提供Live CD。Live CD可以让潜在用户无需安装就可以尝试Ubuntu，大概没有其它Linux发行版提供给桌面用户。
